The fresh musical outlet entitled (strangely enough) Villagers is actually the brain-child of lone Irish singer-songwriter, Conor J. O'Brien, not of a full ensemble of musicians as the name suggests. It's easy to overlook O'Brien because of his fairly boy-ish, unassuming appearance, but he is quite the musical dynamo. Each of the tunes he penned for Villagers' debut album "Becoming a Jackal" delicately crafts stories inside of often times, quite dramatic musical soundscapes. The video below is Mr. O'Brien performing an acoustic 'Take Away Show' under the Villagers moniker for the excellent French-based music blog, La Blogotheque and the video below that is an excellent concert video shot for the Irish music source, State Magazine. Enjoy.
