Death Cab for Cutie - "Some Boys"

Death Cab's next LP, Codes and Keys, is due out May 31 and I'm pretty fucking excited.  I've been digging all the tracks I've heard from it thus far, so I'm glad I can give you guys this one.  It's called "Some Boys" and yeah, it's pretty solid.  Did I mention I can't fucking wait for this album?  Enjoy.

The National - "Exile Vilify"

Here's a new track the National penned for the video game Portal 2's soundtrack entitled, "Exile Vilify".    It's got pianos, string arrangements, and Mr. Berringer's poetry just like the National loves to employ but it's still a solid track.  Check it out.

U2 (Feat. Jay-Z) - "Sunday Bloody Sunday" (Live)

This track is epic, and Jay's verse on this is real, props for the Bob Marley quote. It's just the live version for now, hopefully we get a mastered studio version sometime after U2's U2: Duals drops. Apparently you have to subscribe to U2's fan club to get the LP and it's going to be limited edition. I'd rather not though, hopefully they put out a physical copy and release it on iTunes as well, it's going to make its way out there any way. There are other ways to get with the internet generation. Props to Miss Info & The Hip Hop Update.

Young Chris - ThisIs50 Interview

After dropping The Re-introduction, linking up with Rico Love and Division 1, and dropping a new single, "Assets", it's safe to say Young Chris has been putting in work over the past months and he did it without taking shots at his old label and it's cool to see him doing his thing. In this interview he sits down with Young Jack Thriller from ThisIs50 and talks about his upcoming album, what's next for the Young Gunnaz, and more.

Prodigy - 'The Ellsworth Bumpy Johnson Story' (EP)

It's out, Prodigy shouldn't disappoint with this project. Props to Complex.

Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi - "Two Against One"

Recently, Danger Mouse teamed up with the Italian composer Daniele Luppi to create a spaghetti-Western tinged album entitled, Rome, which is set to be released on May 16 in the UK and on May 17 in the US.  I'm not sure how many tracks are planned to be on the album entirely, but I do know that Jack White and Norah Jones each sing three a piece, and the track below, "Two Against One", features vocals from the former.  Take a listen and enjoy.

Listen to James Pants New Self-Titled LP

Streaming right now over at 3VOOR12 is this new record from singer/songwriter James Pants--James Pants.  It's a hearty blend of pop and psychedelic instrumentation that certainly needs to be heard to be properly understood.  The melodies soar and the guitars are heavy--if either of these things appeal to you, go ahead and hit the link below to listen to the album.  Enjoy.

Adele - "Someone Like You (Messed Remix)"

Honestly, I really kind of like pretty much everything Adele sings on.  She oozes a ton of soul that I'll simply never have.  Another confession--I'm not generally a huge dubstep fan; it just tends to get a little repetitive (in my opinion).  But, this blend of soul and dub really meshes well.  It's truly two different styles juxtaposed together but here, it really works.  Check out this mix.  (Thanks to In Audio We Trust)

Watch Kanye's Entire Coachella 2011 Set

Ok, this is kind of interesting.  Here is Kanye West's entire set from the recent Coachella Music Festival.  Kanye's recent set has gotten a lot of acclaim and deservedly so--he pretty much kills it, seriously.  He really went light on 'celebrity' appearances from other artists and that may be seen as pretty risky behavior, but the chance he takes here really pays off in spades.  Check out his performance.

Take Away Show - Alex Winston

Here's yet another installment of La Blogotheque's Take Away Show series and this time the artist featured is Alex Winston.  Ms. Winston is an American multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter hailing from the Motor City, Detroit, MI.  These performances have a certain pop vibe to them coupled with some great vocal harmonies and as always, the filming is superb.  Enjoy.  PS, I'm pretty sure I found my new crush--real talk.

Prodigy - 'The Ellsworth Bumpy Johnson Story' (EP Artwork)

Complex let this artwork as well as the tracklist go earlier.  It's the first project from P since he's been home--7 tracks deep and features production from Alchemist, King Benny, and Sid Roams. Havoc, the other half of Mobb Deep, is the only guest feature on the project. I know Prodigy's hungry after that stint, so this project should be dope. It's dropping tomorrow, hit up Complex for the full tracklisting.

Pusha T - "My God" (Video)

Visuals for Pusha's street single off of Fear of God. The vid features the beautiful Dollicia Bryan and a ton of religious clips. There's an EP, Fear of God 2: Let Us Pray, dropping in June as well.  Pusha, mentioned on twitter that there would a few surprises on it.
definitely looking forward to the project.

Wiz Khalifa (feat. Chevy Woods) – "Can’t Fuck Wit It" (Unreleased) (Prod E. Dan)

This happens to be an older track featuring Wiz Khalifa and Chevy Woods that is just now surfacing but apparently will be making an appearance on an unofficial mixtape compiled of unreleased and rare songs entitled, Wizdom. The unoffocial project is hosted by No Blunts Trick & Piffsburgh412 and will be available April 20.

Rugz D. Bewler - Generation Next Performance at SouthPaw

Rugz D. Bewler - Renaissance - South Paw - Brooklyn from Brook Bobbins on Vimeo.

Rugz just shared this link via DJ Envy on twitter. If you don't know he's appeared on Ski Beatz', 24 Hour Karate School with the track "Super Bad", and is 3 projects deep right now with Bewler's Day Off, Save Bewler, and a Valentine's Day-themed EP, All I Need is 20.  Here's Harlem's own performing "Renaissance" off of Save Bewler. I dig Rugz music and the fact that he brings a different sound to Harlem, it's not just Dip Set any more. Be on the look out for more music from homie. Hopefully we get a video for "Window Wavin" with Spitta. Props to Rugz & Dj Enuff

Music-RX Interview w/ C of C Radio

Recently, we at the Music-RX (that is Alex and myself) were lucky enough to have the opportunity to spread the word on exactly what we're doing here at the Music-RX.  Thanks to our wonderful and lovely friend/DJ Gwyn LoCascio (aka Gwyneth McBallerstein) of C of C Radio we were able to grace the radio waves briefly and preach the gospel, if you will, of what we're doing right now with the site, what our future plans for the Music-RX are, and really just to promote, promote, promote.  If you're interested in learning a little more about us and the Music-RX, listen to the interview below.  Enjoy (and thanks again Gwyn).

The Novel Ideas - 'Summer Demos'

Here's a mini-album from the Novel Ideas--Summer Demos.  They've got a nice dreamy sound that you can stream below (four tracks) or download below if you feel so compelled.  Enjoy.  (Thanks to In Audio We Trust)

Sir Michael Rocks - "Phone Numbers"

After dropping his "Bring It Back" freestyle recently, Sir Michael Rocks j's up on Wiz Khalifa's "Phone Number" instrumental.

Spotted @ illroots

MED (feat. Blu) - "This is Your Life" (Produced by Exile)

This is my first time hearing of MED, but I've known of Blu. He's one of those dope MC's from the westcoast that doesn't get his just due. Exile produced the track so it knocks of course. Check out MED's, Bang Ya Head 3 dropping independently through Fat Beats on the 26th and checkout Blu & Exile's, Below the Heavens, if you're feeling the two. Props to NahRight

Unknown Mortal Orchestra - "How Can U Love Me?"

Here's a kind of cool, funky track from Unknown Mortal Orchestra called, "How Can U Love Me?"  It's got an old school, upbeat R&B flow.  Check it out.  (Thanks to In Audio We Trust)

Lil B at Coachella

What an announcement, lol. This is why I rock with Lil B--dude really does as he pleases. Let's see if this actually goes through though.  I'm Gay as an album title might not roll with the retailers.

Kevin Cossum - "Runaway Freestyle"

I hadn't heard much from Kevin Cossum up until his features with Pusha T & Rick Ross, but after this video I'm looking forward to more of his work. I'm not the R&B type so that's saying a lot. He has a mixtape out too, By Any Means, check it out. Props to Ashley Outrageous. Here's the link for the tape. By Any Means

Odd Future w/ Pharrell at Coachella

Nowadays when we look up "Winning" in the dictionary, there should be a picture Odd Future. This seems like overnight success to some but the group has been putting in work for a few years now and they got to share the stage with Pharrell AKA one of the greatest producers of all time at Coachella this year. Give respect where it's due. Props to Miss Info

Mac Miller - "People Under The Stairs"

In honor of 300k views, Mac Miller decided to let go this track over a personal favorite from the People Under The Stairs.

Listen to Glasvegas's New LP, 'Euphonic /// Heartbreak \\\'

I've long been a fan of the Scottish/British indie music scene and Glasvegas is greatly responsible.  I've loved this band since I heard their self-titled debut, Glasvegas, for the first time and I'm so glad their follow-up, Euphonic /// Heartbreak \\\, is available over at 3VOOR12 to listen to, so follow the link below and take in this fine record.  Also, their single, "The World is Yours", is below for your listening pleasure.

James Vincent McMorrow - "We Don't Eat (Adventure Club Remix)"

Found this track over on Pigeons & Planes and it was intriguing.  The post over at P & P claimed "We Don't Eat" was a Bon Iver and Skream blend, but I get more of a Bon Iver-James Black love-child kind of vibe from this James Vincent McMorrow track.  Give it a listen.

Talent Couture (feat. Smoke DZA) – "Live 2 Get Fly"

This happens to be a leak off Talent Couture's upcoming So Many Gems mixtape.

Lykke Li - "Sadness is a Blessing (Gold Panda Remix)"

Add this to the already lengthy list of Lykke Li tracks that have been remixed in her relatively short career. Wounded Rhymes was awesome, so keep these remixes coming.  Enjoy.

Juicy J (feat. Don Trip) - "Introduce" (Video)

The Kills on Conan

Here are a couple of videos of the Kills making their rounds on the late night talk show circuit by performing both on stage and backstage of Conan.  They played "Satellite" from Blood Pressures and "Pull a U" off of Keep On Your Mean Side.  Enjoy.

Khalil (feat. Big Sean) - "Goodie Goodie"

This track is sure to land Big Sean and his counterpart Khalil some radio play.

Frank Ocean - "Static"

Here's a track that was left off Nostalgia, Ultra. Peep The Lonny Breaux Collection for more Frank Ocean.

Chevy Woods (feat. Wiz Khalifa) – "The Cookout"

I know what I think about this, so tell me what you think below.

Wale & Meek Mill - "100 Hunnit"

A new joint from two of MMG's dopest spitters. This beat is raw. Props to Miss Info

Nas & Funny or Die: "Shadows"

Nas seems so serious all the time, I didn't know he could be funny. This skit is dope. Be sure to pick up his Distant Relatives project with Damian Marley if you haven't yet. Props to ThisIs50

Raekwon - "Ferry Boat Killaz" (Video)

Raekwon - Ferry Boat Killaz from LRG on Vimeo.

New visuals from The Chef.  Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang is in stores now. You might wanna pick that up.

Killer Mike - "Go Out On The Town" (feat. Young Jeezy)

2 of ATL's dopest link up for a new track off of Killer Mike's PL3DGE that's dropping on May 17. Props to Miss Info. Side Note: I'm glad he didn't stick with Mike Bigga moniker.

Radiohead - "Supercollider" & "The Butcher"

Here are a couple of new(ish) tracks left off of King of Limbs.  I don't really know a whole lot about these two tracks but they're from Radiohead, so they're almost certainly better than anything most bands are capable of putting out.  Enjoy.

N.O.R.E. (feat. Curren$y & Ace Hood) – "Stand Tall"

Nothing better than two new Curren$y tracks in one day even if he is just a feature on this N.O.R.E. track with Ace Hood.

XV - 'Zero Heroes' (Mixtape)

Remember what today is? Yeah 4-XV-2011 the release of XV's Zero Heroes mixtape. This is just great, aside from the fact that it's free for the people, the features on this mixtape are extraordinary. Artists with the likes of Donnis, Miami Horror, Cyhi Da Prynce, Vado, Erin Christine, Kendrick Lamar, Pusha T and J. Cole linked up with XV on this project. Do yourself a favor and download Zero Heroes in it's entirety.

Pac Div (feat. Maino & Lloyd Banks) – "Anti-Freeze (East Coast Remix)"

Maino and Lloyd Banks decided it was necessary to jump on the original version of Pac Div's "Anti-Freeze".

P. Blackk x DJ Giovanny - 'Friday, a Prelude..' (Mixtape)

Presented by Milk Bar Boutique, Bakers Club member P. Blackk drops his latest works Friday, a Prelude.. We at the Music-Rx are strong supporters of underground artists for many a reasons. During the short existence of our blog, our writing staff has had the pleasure to work with artists of all calibers and style, and a personal favorite of mine is Bakers Club. Bakers Club needs no introduction here, our traffic is familiar with all the members. Enoughs been said, download this project and let P. Blackk do the rest.

Curren$y (feat. Freddie Gibbs) - "Scottie Pippen"

Sir Michael Rocks - "Bring It Back"

Here's a freestyle from Cool Kids affiliate Sir Michael Rocks. Rocks j's up on this Travis Porter instrumental.

STS (feat. Tony Williams & Freddie Gibbs) - "Cloud Of Endo" (Prod. SMKA)

Here's the latest offering off The 808 Experiment: Vol. 3, which drops April 26.

Dom Kennedy (feat. Casey Veggies & Carter) - "CDC"

Dom delivers visuals for his track "CDC" off his latest drop, The Original Dom Kennedy.

Throwback Footage: GZA, RZA, ODB - 1991 Public Access TV

WHAT?? Pre-Wu Tang footage. None of them are going by what they're known as now and ODB looks squeaky clean. I love seeing footage like this.

Mysterious Bon Iver Teaser?

Here's a strange/spookyish video from the Bon Iver website.  It looks like it might be a teaser for the next album, due out in June, but one can never be sure.

Untitled from Bon Iver on Vimeo.

Kendrick Lamar - "HiiiPower" (Produced by J. Cole)

The first single off of Kendrick's Section 80 project, dropping later on this year. Expecting some big moves from TDE this year. Black Hippy is making major moves. Props to Miss Info. Oh yeah, hit up iTunes to purchase the track. Support the artists.

Manchester Orchestra - "Simple Math" (Video)

My feelings about Manchester Orchestra pretty much change everyday, but I kinda like the video for "Simple Math".  Their next album, Simple Math, is due out in stores May 10.  Enjoy.  (Thanks to Pigeons & Planes)

Holy Ghost! - "Wait & See" (Flight Facilities Remix)

Here's a smooth track from electro-tune wizards Holy Ghost!, "Wait & See" (Flight Facilities Remix).  Take a listen and thank me later.  (Thanks to InAudioWeTrust)

Alexander - 'Alexander' (Album)

It's about time the world gets some more good ol' true indie music.  Alexander's self-titled debut album, Alexander, is some classy indie music.  Think early 2000s Shins meets the Brian Jonestown Massacre--yeah, this album kicks it back old school.  Listen to it below.  (Thanks to 3VOOR12)

Listen to Alexander - Alexander

Red Snapper - 'Key' (Album)

Here's an album I stumbled upon over at 3VOOR12--Key by Red Snapper.  It's fairly, er...wildly experimental, but it definitely grooves.  Give it a listen (follow the link below); it grows on you I swear.

Listen to Red Snapper - Key

Take Away Show - Josh T. Pearson

Josh T. Pearson is an American singer-songwriter from Texas who carries along with his Jesus-beard, a certain ability to gently pluck at the emotional heart-strings.  In this installment of La Blogotheque's Take Away Show series, Mr. Pearson meanders throughout the streets of Paris softly performing his tracks "Sweetheart, I Ain't Your Christ" and "Thou Art Loose".  It's really quite amazing how powerful these performances are considering the nature of his performing style.  Give this a watch and thank me later.

Girl Talk Teaching English?!

So, recently Gregg Gillis (aka Girl Talk) recently did an interview for the hip English language education site, English, baby! and it is pretty interesting.  I admit that I am a little partial because I am indeed an English major, so I'm kind of a dork about these things, but it really is pretty interesting to hear Mr. Gillis define sonic terms like "out of the blue" and "sample".  He certainly thinks in his own way.

The Decemberists - "This is Why We Fight" (Video)

The Decemberists' latest album, The King is Dead, was met with critical acclaim and really got some unfair (in my opinion) reviews.  Anyway, here's the video for one of the better songs off the record, "This is Why We Fight".  Enjoy.

Bei Major (feat. J. Cole) - "Trouble"

Always ready to hear more J. Cole, so here's his latest track featuring Bei Major. I'm definitely looking forward to the next project to be released from Cole.

Domo Genesis (feat. Tyler the Creator) - "Heart Of Gold"

Before you get all hyped up thinking this is new, it's not at all. According to an article on Fader,

"Odd Future’s publicist/nanny/wrangler confirms this as a legit “old as fuck” track that “was on Domo’s old myspace and for some reason it’s being spread around just now.”

You heard it, I'm just doing my part as a blogger to spread the material.

Frank Ocean – 'The Lonny Breaux Collection' (Mixtape)

The specific purpose of this post is to share a new artist with you by the name of Lonny Breaux. That was a complete and total lie, actually it could be considered one but actually Lonny Breaux is also known as Frank Ocean and to many of you he is quite new. Although the group Frank is associated with which is OFWGKTA, isn't that new to say the least, Frank is making his come up fast. How do I explain to you this guys sound? Simply put I can't. Frank Ocean has in my opinion a completely different style of music. Whatever genre of music he is classified under by choice of him or others doesn't contain him to that style. If you heard his latest project Nostalgia, Ultra and like me instantly fell in love with him as an artist and his music then this project will certainly satisfy you. This mixtape, The Lonny Breaux Collection is a compilation of 63 tracks prior to Nostalgia, Ultra.

Download: Frank Ocean - The Lonny Breaux Collection (Mixtape)

XV - "Famous" (feat. Jazmine Sullivan & Sez Batters)

This happens to be the latest leak from XV's project Zero Heroes which drops this Friday. This track features Jazmine Sullivan & Sez Batters.
