"You Were There: the Complete LCD Soundsystem" (article)

I'm not one to generally focus attention away from the smaller, more personally devoted music news sites but sometimes praise is in order for the monoliths of the industry.  I certainly have my misgivings about the Pitchfork music news site but they definitely nailed it with this one.  "You Were There: The Complete LCD Soundsystem" is an absolutely fantastic article chronicling the careers of James Murphy and LCD Soundsystem, and it does so in a track-by-track fashion.  It's a fantastic effort that any fan of LCD Soundsystem would find quite fascinating (and you can read it by following the link in the text and below).

Muppets & LCD Soundsystem

Suck it, Cee-Lo.  LCD Soundsystem got the real Muppets, not the fake-ass pseudo-Muppets you had for your performance at the Grammys.  This is the unofficial video for LCD's "Dance Yourself Clean" and it's fucking awesome.  All the greats are present--Kermit, Miss Piggy, Animal, and even Cookie Monster, though I'm not exactly sure why he's here since he is in fact from Sesame Street, but that doesn't even matter.  This video is hilarious.  Seriously, watch it.  You'll be glad you did.

LCD Soundsystem to Play Farwell Concert in NYC

On Saturday, April 2nd of this year, LCD Soundsystem will play their last show at New York's Madison Square Garden, a fitting, grandiose locale to cap off an equally as magnificent performing career.  Per the group's website, lcdsoundsystem.com, they "will be playing with friends and family for nearly three hours" and the set will include songs they've "never played before".  They're even requesting that all who attend the farewell gig wear white, black, or white and black.  Tickets go on sale February 11th.  Should be a wild evening.
